One morning a long time ago, there was an Indian camp, which contained women, children, and hunters. A hill overlooked a pond. One small tree stood lonely among the dust.
Then, the buffalo came. The people wanted to kill the buffalo, so they quickly hid evidence of their camp. Women took down the tepees and the children caught their dogs. The thirsty buffalo galloped past the tree which split the heard in two. The buffalo crashed into the pond and bathed and drank. Then hunters on the hill started to shoot.
Some confused and panicked buffalo hurriedly ran when they saw some dead. The living buffalo rushed away. But 200 buffalo, who were food for the Indians, lay dead by the hill by the pond.
