In 1 Nephi 3:5, Lehi tells Nephi the following: “And now, behold thy brothers murmur, saying it is a hard thing which I have required of them; but behold I have not required it of them, but it is a commandment of the Lord.” Lehi did not ask it; God did. I think that that is something we all should remember. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young didn’t ask the early members to the Church to go to Utah; the God did. President Monson didn’t ask us to read our scriptures daily; the God did. President Nelson didn’t ask us to “enter the youth battalion of the Lord”; God did. God is just having the prophets deliver his message. In Doctrine & Covenants 1:38, God tells Joseph Smith, “whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.”
